Wood Carving - Earthway Experience

Earthway Experience will be using Permaculture to enhance our site on Lake Siljan as well as at our home in Leksand Sweden.
We are located at 61°N - As far north as Anchorage Alaska.

Using Permaculture principles we care for the land and environment (local birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife),

we care for ourselves, by eating organically and locally grown food and we give away or sell the excess - no waste!

WHAT IS PERMACULTURE?
Here is a textbook answer

Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and perennial agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in the natural ecologies. By designing our own environments and building increasingly self-sufficient human settlements in a way where one reduces society's reliance on industrial systems of production and distribution which fundamentally and systematically are destroying Earth's ecosystems.

To understand better what is Permaculture, watch the videos from the founders - Bill Mollison & Davis Holmgren.

Listen to and watch them tell us in their own words about Permaculture.

The next section watch Permaculture in action at our Mora-Vinäs location. This video series is growing at a rate of appx one video per week.

In 1981 Bill Mollison co-founder of Permaculture was in the USA for a Permaculture Design Course at the Rural Education Center in Wilton, NH.

A 13 pamphlet (155 pages) collection was compiled.

I am glad to have this available as the authors are encouraging free distribution of them!

Permaculture co-originator David Holmgren, whose "pivotal role in developing permaculture has scarcely been recognized" speaks about permaculture and shows his current Permaculture project in Australia.

Two shows are from 'Eco-Centric', a story by reporter Tim Lee from the 2004 ABC program 'Landline'.

The next David speaks about Sustainability, Peak Oil and Permaculture.

In the fourth video David offers a counter view, a vision of a radically retrofitted, food producing suburbia.

Many think "I like the idea of permaculture but I live where we have snow in the winter, sometimes LOTS of snow" (like us here in Sweden!) The following is a clip from the film "Farming With Nature" about permaculture farmer Sepp Holzer. He created an edible landscape on 1500 meters above sea level in the alps. Between the pine tree mono cultures of Austria he built the biggest functioning permaculture landscape of Europe.

You can see all films about Sepp Holzer on a DVD called "Sepp Holzer´s Permaculture" published by the filmmakers, Malcolm St.Julian Bown and Heidi Snel. Find the DVD at www.ecofilm.de
